Most know us for the iconic red cup. But few know that the red cup is related to a certain purple-wave-sporting '90s cult favorite and a beloved New York City classic.

The Jazz design was originally submitted by a Sweetheart Company employee as part of an internal design contest for a new stock image. Little did she know that her design would go on to be printed on millions of cups around the world.

If you've ever stepped into a local bodega or visited a coffee cart in NYC, you've likely had a run-in with this cup. Originally created by Leslie Buck in 1963, its font is derived from ancient Athenian lettering, while the blue and white colors pay homage to the Greek flag.
